First Ever Dragon
by Pamela Gaunt
In the beginning,
In the very, very beginning was nothing but darkness.
It wasn’t empty and it wasn’t scarey.
It was the Womb of all Creation, filled up with all that might ever be.
Everything Waiting To Be Born.
So crammed was it in that big black hole, so teeming with endless possibilities, so filled- to- the-brim with all- that- might- ever- become-and everything- that- could- ever- happen
That…eventually…After aeons of waiting…..
Gently and slowly pushed out from the depth of the black hole was…
A Giant White Egg.
That’s How it All Began.
Inside this shimmering Giant White Egg …in the very, very centre of the Inner Golden
Yolk, curled up fast asleep was….
A Tiny Baby Dragon.
Little green and gold dragon wings wrapped around snoring dragon nose.
Teensy green dragon tail tucked under baby dragon chin.
Weeny golden dragon thumb being sucked in little dragon mouth.
Such a Beautiful First Ever Baby Dragon dreaming itself into Creation.
The Dragons Dream of Creation….
The only sound in all the silence (besides the gentle snoring) was the quiet Heartbeat of First Ever Dragon
As this baby slept, snored and dreamt, it grew.
As it grew, its Heart beat stronger and louder.
Through dreaming and heartbeating and growing it became a Really Big Fully Grown Dragon.
Squeezed and curled up so tight inside the egg, grown so huge that its scaley dark green spine and tail pushed against the upper part of the egg.
Its pale green gold wings and giant black claws pressed so hard on the lower lining of the shell …..
That the Egg Cracked Wide Open.
A mighty explosion which crashed through the silent darkness of the Universe.
(Egg yolk flew into galaxies and milky ways)
All of the Lightness in the egg flew upwards and all of the Heaviness sank downwards.
Coughing and spluttering, blinking and winking….the Green and Gold First Dragon Ever drew a first breath, pulling in Life Itself to fill her dragon lungs.
She unfurled her beautiful huge wings to hold the Lightness in place, so the Heavens would not fly away (to stop it being forever out of her reach)
She grabbed down with her four strong dragon legs and claws, and held on fast to the Heaviness, so that the Earth would not fall away, (nor sink back into the black hole)
Her speedy heart beat filled the space around a trembling world awaiting to be made ….
There she stood holding the Heavens and the Earth in place.
For billions and trillions of years.
Sometimes she stretched and shook her powerful Pale Green and Gold Wings, so hard that the gold flew off to become exploding stars, shining and twinkling in the vastness of the Heavens.
Always her strong, dark green and black claws pointing and holding downwards, to dig and scratch to give form to the Earth beneath.
First Dragon Ever made sure that the Heavens and the Earth were safely held.
But so long and so hard did she work, that she began to tire and felt she had could hold no more. She had little time left…
Glancing up and down with her big dark brown eyes and seeing her work was done, wings drooped, heart weakening, she gathered all her Power to give a First and Last Blast of the Her Fiery Breath.
The orange and red flames leapt into the heavens and became the Sun.
And She Fell.
First Dragon Ever fell.
As she did….
A giant tear became the moon.
Her wings crashed and rolled (leaving their gold stars in the heavens)
Her great scaley huge dragon dark green body began to whirl and swirl , with gases and nauseous fumes and roaring fire and bubbling hot lava.
Her last sigh rose above to become the clouds.
The beads of dragons sweat from her body swirled upwards to become the rain.
Her last ever breath became the wind.
The wind of her last-breath blew the clouds of- her- sigh across the Heavens. It rained on her curved body, as She became the Earth
Heaving up her giant shoulders and wings for protection … they became the snow capped mountains. An eagle flew
Opening her huge dragon’s chest… it became the plains and open flat land. Buffallo and deer and horses galloped
Arching her great dragon’s back , which became hilltops…and the scales became the ridges and rocks along the hilltops.
Stretching out her giant tail…which reached all round the world and its green scales grew into the mighty forests. Creatures of the forests appeared, the tigers and monkeys and parrots and lions.
She clawed and dug down with her feet so that deep chasms appeared, and Her Blood poured into those chasms and became the oceans. Her veins became the rivers flowing to those oceans, and sea creatures appeared, nibbling at her toe nails at the bottom of the sea, then grew into fish and octopus and dolphins and sharks..
At times when it became so cold that the ice froze over the surface her body, First Ever Dragon snuggled down deep inside herself. She blew her dragon’s breath deep down to Her Fireball Heart Centre, miraculously still blazing and holding the steady heartbeat of the world.
Her dark flesh became the soil beneath the earth, and her bones cracked and crumbled to become jewels, crystals, coal, fossils, oil, silver and gold, yet to be discovered as Dragons Treasure.
Up above, when warmth came from the sun which had-been-her-fire breath she stirred and stretched and a giant tidal tsunami wave would crash onto her shores.
At nightime, as she dreamed, the light of her tears, the moon, would shine upon the rippling waters of the ocean which had- been-Her Blood.
Often, First Ever Dragon would glance over to her wings and shoulders of the snow capped mountains. One night, She saw a gold thread of light from the stars which- had- been made- from- the- gold of - her- wings-in-heaven reach right down and touch a giant mound of Her Dragons Belly ,rising from the waters of Her Own Earth Body.
She knew the people would be coming soon.
